Description

The Vela Supernova Remnant is an exceptionally large target in the Southern Hemisphere which formed after a supernova that occurred ~11,000 years ago at about 900 light years away. The size of the remnant cannot be understated with it easily filling the full frame of my Redcat 51 and 2600MM combination.

A stellar run of Western Australian weather across January and February allowed me to be able to easily push the project out to 70 hours, all captured from my Bortle 7 suburban backyard.

A big thank you to Che, Charlie, Sketch and many other the /r/AP Discord folks for sharing their processing tips and tricks and for help with processing this. This is my first narrowband image, so I chose a classic HOO palate for this object while also using independently processed RGB stars for better star colour and looks. All critiques and criticisms are welcome.
